Challenges

Each sermon series needed to:

  • Clearly communicate its theological theme
  • Feel welcoming and accessible to people unfamiliar with church culture
  • Translate seamlessly across multiple formats (print, social, projection)
  • Maintain consistency while allowing each series its own visual voice

Rather than creating one-off graphics, the goal was to build repeatable, adaptable visual systems that supported teaching and community formation.

Strategy & Approach

For each sermon series, I developed a custom illustrated visual language rooted in the series’ theological focus, using symbolism, setting, and narrative illustration to reinforce the message before a single word was spoken.

Each system was designed to work as a cohesive set, ensuring that someone encountering the series on a postcard, Instagram, or Sunday morning screen experienced the same story and tone.

Outcomes & Impact

The illustrated sermon series branding helped Veritas Church:

  • Create a recognizable visual rhythm across teaching seasons
  • Strengthen first impressions for newcomers
  • Support storytelling and theological reflection through illustration
  • Maintain visual cohesion across print, digital, and in-service spaces

By treating each sermon series as a mini brand system, the visuals became an extension of the teaching itself, reinforcing meaning, tone, and invitation.
