Brand Story

Co-owner Lizzy spent part of her childhood in Albania, where some of her fondest memories include running through open fields and visiting the local village baker to buy a loaf of bread fresh from the oven. Elsewhere Bread was born from the desire to recreate that feeling... of being momentarily taken elsewhere through something as simple and grounding as bread. This sense of nostalgia, care, and simple joy became the emotional foundation for the brand.

Challenges

Elsewhere Bread had an existing primary logo (beautifully designed by Ben Finfrock), but the branding needed:

  • A cohesive visual system that could extend across digital and print
  • An e-commerce website that supported weekly ordering and local pickup
  • An expanded range of brand assets that felt warm, handcrafted, and approachable
  • Tools that integrated seamlessly into the owners’ real-world workflow

Because the bakery operates without a physical storefront, the website and printed materials needed to do much of the work typically handled by a physical space.

Strategy & Approach

  • Branding
I expanded the existing logo into a flexible brand system that could be used consistently across platforms.
  • Digital
I designed and built a brand-consistent e-commerce website that allows customers to place orders for weekly pickup. The site was built on Square, ensuring tight integration with Lizzy and Eric’s existing point-of-sale and inventory workflow.
  • Print
I designed square business cards with rounded corners—a subtle but intentional departure from standard formats. The shape reinforces the bakery’s sense of friendliness, approachability, and handmade quality, while remaining professional and tactile.

Outcomes & Impact

This project demonstrates how a small, story-rich business can feel fully realized and professional, even without a physical storefront. Through cohesive branding, a thoughtfully designed ordering experience, and tactile print details, Elsewhere Bread presents itself as warm, intentional, and trustworthy, helping customers feel connected to both the product and the people behind it.

The project demonstrates how brand storytelling, paired with a streamlined system, can translate personal memory and craft into a cohesive digital and print experience for a local food business.
