Educational Design

Design for resources that make complex ideas more accessible

FEATURED PROJECT

Offered to Penn State Health managers, I took a Word document and made it a visually engaging resource through intentional editorial design and cohesive creative direction.

Deliverable

A visually engaging toolkit (PDF) containing thoughtful steps, resources, and tips for fostering holistic well-being within their teams

How This Works

Approach

I approach educational design as a way to support learning through structure, visual clarity, and pacing. It’s about helping information land, make sense, and be remembered.

This service is best suited for organizations needing to distill technical or insider information into resources that are both engaging and accessible.

Typical deliverables include: infographic explainers (print & digital), program guides and toolkits, educational slide decks used for teaching, and specialized/custom projects (e.g., UX-informed interactive features).

Process

Educational projects are often scoped as flat-fee engagements (except for specialized projects) and may be completed in a single focused phase or across multiple phases. The process typically includes:

  • Content review & structure: Distilling existing content into a streamlined information architecture that helps readers & users gain meaningful takeaways
  • Visual system development: Illustrations, graphics, color palettes, and typographic systems created for visual consistency and effective learning experience
  • Design, refinement, & delivery: Designing layouts within the appropriate formats (print, digital), revising as needed, and finalizing for distribution

Investment

Educational design projects are priced based on scope, complexity, and the number of materials involved. Smaller projects typically begin in the low four figures, while larger or multi-part educational programs are quoted individually.

If you’re unsure what level of support your project needs, I’m happy to help you think it through.

Scenario: Educational Guide/Toolkit
