Body of Work Wellness Tracker

Book Design

Body of Work is a wellness tracker created specifically for creative professionals. Built around the belief that creativity is rooted in the whole body (not just the mind), the book helps readers notice how movement, food, and emotional patterns influence their creative output over time.

Structured as an undated, year-long companion, the tracker blends reflection, light structure, and open space, giving creatives a way to observe patterns without turning wellness into another performance metric.

Challenges

Designing Body of Work involved several layered challenges:

  • Defining a new category. Most wellness journals aren’t designed with creative professionals in mind. This project needed to bridge wellness tracking and creative practice without feeling clinical or productivity-obsessed.
  • Balancing structure with spaciousness. The weekly tracker needed to provide meaningful insight without overwhelming users or requiring excessive data entry.
  • Designing for daily relevance. Food, movement, sleep, and energy had to connect clearly to creative flow on a day-to-day basis, not just as abstract wellness goals.
  • Visual cohesion at scale. With 12 thematic sections, the book required variety without losing unity across nearly 250 pages.

Strategy & Approach

The final book functions as a creative ecosystem tracker rather than a traditional planner or journal.

  • Monthly themed reflections that ground readers in a given (usually seasonal) focus
  • Intention-setting across body, mind, heart, and creativity
  • Weekly spreads tracking movement, food, water, sleep, energy, and creative flow, designed intentionally, without overwhelm
  • Creative+Wellness pages that offer challenges with playful, low-pressure prompts, along with research-backed health insights with creative exercises
  • A cohesive illustration system. Each month features its own color palette and set of themed illustrations, unified by a consistent line style and restrained global palette.

Outcomes & Impact

  • Successfully launched as a self-published paperback via Amazon KDP
  • Positioned as a niche offering for creatives seeking sustainable creative practices
  • Demonstrates end-to-end book development: concept, structure, illustration, and production
  • Serves as a flagship example of designing complex, content-heavy books with clarity and intention

The project demonstrates how a complex, original concept can be shaped into a cohesive book system through intentional structure, illustration, and user-centered formatting.
